Try to project in your mind something big, lively, and smart, that balances smoothly without losing its power, it’s so powerful that it makes the ground shake, changing everything from one place to another, it changes your ideas and feelings, your instincts, your passion. Everything moves with an imposing beat that forces all your senses to listen and, in a second, it explodes in your brain making your joints react before the lyrical ecstasy of their compass. Can you see it? It doesn’t matter how you look at it, they’re already here, they’re back, you know who they are, and they’re back with more energy than ever, they’re… “elefante”.

Overnight, “elefante” became a vertiginous stampde. In February of 2001 it represented Mexico in the " Festival de la Canción de Viña del Mar “ seating the precedent of being the first "group" that competed in this contest, where usually on singles participate. The reaction of the Chilean public was very pleasant; "elephant" raised itself with the third place.

The rest is history.

Caminar con mi bandera, caminar a mi manera, caminar, seguir andando, que no sabes hasta cuando...

Their first material El Que Busca Encuentra, was presented by their actual record company “Sony Music México”, caused a great euphoria with themes like “De la Noche a la Mañana”, which was placed in the Top Ten songs in Mexico City in only three weeks. The subsequent successes “Así es la Vida” and “La que se Fue” among others, demolish with its talent the walls of anonymity. Its first Platinum Disc made of “elefante” a supreme mythological animal.

And the pachyderm would still reach greater dimensions.

In the mountains of Málaga in Spain, “elefante” would pass thirty days in captivity, recording in El Cortijo its second record material, Lo Que Andábamos Buscando, produced by Carlos Narea, who has worked with great artists like Miguel Ríos, Fito Páez, Joaquín Sabina and Pedro Guerra, among others, “elefante” believes in this new proposal as a mixture of varied sounds without limits, with only one goal in their minds: have fun and enjoy this new creative facet.

This new album reaffirms the high lyrical and musical level from the band. “El Abandonao”, “La Condena” and “Sabor a Chocolate”, among others; were so touching and succesful themes as the ones already known.

It was time to conquer the World.

The internationalization of “elefante” occurred in 2003. The band started to perform tours in Central and South America, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Argentina where people ovation with excitement the five member Mexican band with a quadruped name. In the Monumental stadium of River Plate, they opened Shakira’s concert in front of 45,000 people that enjoyed their performance with enthusiasm.

In spite of its colossal size, this species is an excellent swimmer, and “elefante” didn’t doubt for a second in crossing the pond. The Spanish audience also was shaken by the freshness of those strangers who opened in an unforgettable way, five presentations of the group “Maná” (Málaga, Elche, Campillo, Los Alcázares and the imposing square of Las Ventas in Madrid) it was more than receptive, they demonstrated acceptance and extreme enthusiasm for the band. The impact that “elefante” generated with Maná’s audience in Spain was so, that the popular tapatío band decided to invite them to play in the United Status in the en “Home Depot Stadium” in Los Ángeles, California, in fornt of 40,000 people. “Elefante” continued playing by themselves in San Diego, Los Ángeles, New York, Miami, San Antonio and Dallas. In addition, they were chosen as invited guests for the Alejandro Fernández and Joaquín Sabina’s presentations in the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City. In April of 2004, they had in their file more than 200 presentations in the Mexican Republic, 50 international performances and more than 600,000 cpoies sold from their 2 albums at world wide level.

By the end of this year’s spring, when the band finished their commitments, Reyli, vocalist of the band, decided to try a new beginning by becoming a single, he left the band.

Jorge Martínez, ex vocalist of the band “Caos” (who created the succesful themes “La Planta” and “La Vida Gacha”) joined the stampede.

In October of 2004 “elefante” pesented their third record produced by themselves and recorded in “El Pie Recording Studios”, Buenos Aires, Argentina, where artists such Air Supply, Robert Plant, King Crimson, Arjona, Luis Miguel and Lerner have recorded their albums. The recording and mixtures were in charge of the prestigious engineer Eduardo Bergallo, who has colaborated with Soda Stéreo, Gustavo Cerati, Diego Torres and Alejandro Lerner, among others.

This productions that has as a title the homonymus of the band, “elefante”, is still recognized by the conjunction of styles and diverse sounds, that inevitably takes us to the colorful atmosphere of his already so known habitat. "elefante" keeps on singing the memory and the forgetfulness, the lack of affection and the absurd one, the humanity and the life. Their songs, are filled with sensitivity, simplicity, emotions, love, dignity and humility.

The repertoire of this third disc is made up of 12 unpublished themes: “Ángel”, “Durmiendo con la Luna”, Mentirosa”, “Encrucijada”, “Estoy Loco”, “Píntame de Azul”, “Déjate Seguir”, “Pinta tu Raya”, “Ven”, “Contigo”, “Contra Corriente” and “Si tu Quieres”.

For the theme "Píntame de Azul", a version was made as a Bonus Track, in which Soledad, a recognized singer from Argentina, was invited to participate, that has sold more than 2 million copies in this country. This popular artist, already had recorded the subject "A donde vayas", original theme of "elefante", name that was also used for the title of its last album.

“Mentirosa”, the first single that is already sounding in the radio and that has been located quickly between the first places of popularity, positioning itself like another success of the group, it counts with the special participation of the leader of the Argentina’s band, “La Portuaria", and Marcela Blanco from the band “Los Pericos”

In April of 2005 “elefante” presents its second single “Durmiendo con la Luna”. This song is the first ballad in the history of the group that sounds in the radio, is a stirring song, that moves anyone’s sensible fibers.

“elefante” es un grupo de seres humanos que como sucede en los mejores y mas fructíferos encuentros, decidieron crear su mundo musical con un propuesta sin etiquetas ni formas preconcebidas.

Sus orígenes se remontan, a la época de las cosas sencillas, cotidianas.... la vida misma. “elefante” te lleva desde la mística y la profundidad del surrealismo hasta el mas salvaje y excitante rincón del corazón.

La nitidez y simplicidad de su ropaje musical, pone al desnudo su mundo, basado en la acústica de sus guitarras y el peso de su base, las pinceladas de los teclados y el profundo color de su voz.

Con mas de 50 canciones y cuatro discos “elefante” recorre un espectro de emociones y cadencias llenas de significado, no hay palabras fuera de lugar, ni recursos fáciles para lograr la contundencia. Las canciones crecen conforme se deslizan, como la presencia segura y firme de quien sabe su peso y estatura. No es un grupo de una vez, pero su contacto es directo, e inesquivable desde la primera escucha.

“elefante” se ha caracterizado por ser uno de los grupos que mas han trabajado desde que iniciaron con su primer gira internacional. Con un promedio de 250 presentaciones por año hasta la fecha en la Republica Mexicana, en diferentes países, como Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Estados Unidos y España.




“elefante” ha sido acreedor a innumerables reconocimientos y premios a lo largo de su carrera: Tres nominaciones a los premios GRAMMY Latino en las categorias de

Multiples nominaciones a los premios “OYE”, reconocimientos otorgados por la “AMPROFON” (Asociación Mexicana de Productores de Fonogramas), en las siguientes categorías:
“Disco de año”,

“Mejor Grupo de Rock”
“Grupo Revelación”,
ganando el premio en esta última.

Además el Circulo nacional de Periodistas A.C. en su XXVI aniversario, convocó al grupo para asistir a la ceremonia de entrega de SOL DE ORO, otorgando a “elefante” un merecido premio y reconocimiento especial por: Su importante trayectoria musical juvenil, siendo considerado el grupo rock-pop del año a nivel nacional e internacional, colocando su producción discográfica como la más importante del año con mayores ventas.
Por otro lado “elefante” se ha convertido en, no solo uno de los grupos mas importantes si no uno de los mas queridos, logrando colocarse en los primeros lugares de popularidad con canciones como
“De la noche la mañana”, “La que se fue”, “Amores prohibidos” y “Así es la vida”. ( Lo que andabamos buscando )
“El abandonao”, “La condena” y “Sabor a chocolate. ( El que busca encuentra )
“Mentirosa”, “Durmiendo con la luna” y “Angel”.
Además de todo el éxito que obtuvieron desde su primer disco y los reconocimientos que han recibido, esta banda mexicana estuvo presente en la primera entrega de Premios Luna, en el Auditorio Nacional, donde cantaron las canciones que los han hecho famosos, logrando la participación más entusiasta de la gente durante el evento y recibiendo grandes muestras de cariño. Elefante recibió una luna, siendo reconocido como GRUPO REVELACIÓN,


Recientemente elefante recibió el premio Orgullosamente Latino, después de que 2 millones 113 mil 781 personas votaran para hacerlos el Grupo Latino del Año. En el certamen organizado por el internacionalmente reconocido canal de videos “Ritmo Son Latino”.
